NDA stands for National Defence Academy and is located in Khadakwasla near Pune. In NDA personnel of different services of Indian defence forces namely the naval, the army and the air force are trained together. Thereafter, they go on to join specialized training for their respective forces. Every year lakhs of students appear for NDA written exam. Some of them are true aspirants who were dreaming to join defence forces from years. NDA is conducted two times in a year, i.e., NDA I and NDA II.

NDA 2 2019 Exam

NDA II 2019 Exam Dates have been released now. It is one of the national level entrance exam of Indian defence services. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts this examination. After qualifying the NDA 2 2019 exam, candidates can get entry into Army, Air Force and Naval Academies. Service Selection Board (SSB) conducts the Interview round for selecting the appropriate candidate. Candidates have to clear the examination to appear for SSB.

NDA 2 2019 Important Dates

NDA 2 2019 Eligibility Criteria

There are various parameters on the basis of which the candidates’ eligibility is checked so that they can appear for the exam and eligible for the further procedure.


As per the nationality standards set by UPSC for NDA 2019, Candidates must have:

  • Indian Citizenship or should be
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India prior to January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A PIO (Person of Indian Origin) who has come back from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention to get settled down permanently in India.

Age Limit

  • Only unmarried male candidates, who are 16.5 to 19.5 years old are eligible to appear for NDA II 2019 exam conducted by UPSC.
  • Candidates should enter their Date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University.

Physical Standards

Candidates should be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to NDA and Naval Academy Examination as per the guidelines provided by the Medical Authority.

The candidates those have resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of Armed Forces are not eligible to apply.

NDA 2 Application Form 2019

Candidates are advised to fill the application form carefully. The complete details related to the application form are given below.

  • The NDA 2 application form 2019 will be released through online mode.
  • The online application will be started from the 7th August 2019 till 3rd September 2019.
  • Candidates have to upload the scanned images of photograph and signature according to the format.
  • All the details should be authentic and as per the 10th certificates.
  • Must take the printout of the filled-in application form at the end.
  • The fee for NDA (II) Application Form 2019 is INR 100/-. Candidates of reserved categories are exempted from paying any fee for the registration. Payment of fee can be done offline by paying cash in any State bank branch and offline as well by Credit or Debit card or through Net banking.

Educational Qualification

1. For Army wing

Candidates must have passed or appearing in class 12 or cleared the equivalent examination of the State Board to be eligible for NDA 2 2019.

2. For Air Force or Naval wings and for 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at the Indian Naval Academy

Candidates must have passed 12th class with Physics and Mathematics as subjects or cleared the equivalent examination of the State Board to be eligible for NDA II 2019.

Candidates who are appearing in 12th class or equivalent examination of the State board are also eligible for NDA 2 2019.

NDA 2 Admit Card 2019

UPSC has released a notification with important instructions for NDA II which is scheduled for November 17, 2019.

  • The authority will release NDA II 2019 Admit Card via online mode on the official UPSC website.
  • Visit upsc.gov.in to download NDA Hall Ticket 2019.
  • To download the admit card, candidates have to fill up details like RID, Date of Birth or Roll Number & other details.
  • The admit card bear exam related details like students name, roll number, exam centre, exam date & timing, etc.
  • Without admit card, candidates will not be permitted to appear in the examination.

How to Download NDA 2 2019 Admit Card?

To download follow the steps given below:

  • Go to the official website of UPSC.
  • A link for NDA II 2019 Admit Card Download will be provided, click on it.
  • You must enter the registration number/ roll number along with password and captcha code.
  • Click on submit, the admit card will appear on the screen.
  • Check all the details carefully and download multiple copies of it for your record.

NDA 2 2019 Exam Pattern

NDA Exam Pattern

  • All the questions in the exam will be objective i.e., Multiple Choice Questions will be asked.
  • The medium of the exam will be bilingual with a total of 900 marks.
  • Out of 270 questions, 120 questions are from Mathematics and 150 questions from General Ability section.
  • There is the provision of negative marking as per the marks allotted to questions asked.
  • For Mathematics exam all questions will carry 2.5 marks each, which will only be allotted for choosing the correct answer. 0.83 Marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • For General Ability Test candidates will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer in this section.
  • A deduction of 1.33 Marks will be there for each wrong answer. There will be no mark for unanswered questions.
  • The syllabus covered under NDA 2019 is of CBSE 10+2 standards.

NDA 2 2019 Written Exam Syllabus

The NDA 2 question paper will be consisting of Mathematics and General Ability Test. Candidates can get the syllabus below:

The general knowledge section of the NDA 2019 consists of the following topics:

  • Physics (100 marks)
  • Chemistry (60 marks)
  • General Science (40 marks)
  • History and Freedom Movement (80 marks)

NDA II 2019 Exam Result

The result of NDA II 2019 written examination will be released after one month from the exam. NDA 2019 Result will be declared via online mode through the website. The result of shortlisted candidates for SSB Interview will be displayed in PDF format.

Shortlisted candidates are needed to appear for the SSB Interview round organized by the Services Selection Board (SSB) of the Ministry of Defence. After clearing the SSB interview & other rounds, the final result will be declared.

Following are the steps to check the NDA 2 2019 Results:

  • Go to the official website of UPSC- upsc.gov.in
  • Navigate to “What’s New” section.
  • Click on the link stating NDA II 2019 Written Exam Result or NDA II 2019 Final Result
  • A pdf will be displayed on the computer screen containing the list of qualified roll numbers.
  • Download the pdf file for future reference.

NDA SSB Interview

After passing the NDA written exam the candidates will be shortlisted for the personality & intelligence interview. The successful candidates will be intimated regarding the allocation of Selection Centres and dates of SSB interviews on the email ID as filled by the candidate in their UPSC online application.

On the first stage of SSB, the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) will be conducted and in a second stage the Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and Conference will be conducted. Final selected candidates will be informed for their selection on the spot after all rounds. The candidates have to submit the original certificates after the completion of the interview round.
